BPM mit DJ Squasch

Zürich-born-and-bred family man DJ SQUASH first got in touch with UK Breakbeat, Jungle and House through

regular listening to pivotal Swiss radiostation Couleur3 at the tender age of 14 in the very early 90s.

This led to regular vinyl shopping at the infamous local Mono Records store, and he didn’t get rid off the addiction

to this very day!

After practising intensely for several years, SQUASH started to run his own outdoor parties and was a regular face

at Bogen13 (for those that remember!) playing everything from Downbeat to Liquid, or Intelligent D&B as it was

called in those days…

Around the millennium he joined the legendary MUTE crew, one of the most important and active crews of the

exploding Swiss D&B scene of the time. As a resident he played at the most important clubs such as Hive, Moods

and Dachkantine and at radiostations and raves all over Switzerland. He was a support act for countless

international guests such as Marcus Intalex, Calibre, Alix Perez and LTJ Bukem to name but a few. SQUASH also

had a brief romance with Deep / Tech House as Silex and Chris Mono.

To this day, he is an avid D&B lover as it’s the only genre that encompasses everything, from hard, techy stuff to

super deep to jazzy, funky styles to straight up, playful Jungle. To Squash, it is much more a feeling and lifestyle,

involving, diverse and ever innovative. His preference is the liquidy side of things and he likes to play elaborate sets
